Why should I recycle my car?

It is compulsory (Decree 116/2004) for the vehicle to be withdrawn and permanently deleted by the Ministry of Transport and the Tax Office.
ATTENTION: The vehicle must be handed in by 20 December each year

When do I have to recycle my car?

There is no prescribed date. The car can be taken to recycle whenever the owner wants.

What will it cost me?

Absolutely nothing! The delivery of the vehicle is free of charge as long as it is intact and intact. In the event that major structural or mechanical parts have been removed from the vehicle, the delivery center has the right to impose charges approved by the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources.

What proof do I have of delivery of my vehicle?

Upon delivery of your vehicle, the center issues a “Certificate of Receipt”. Once your documents have been submitted to the Ministry of Transport, a Certificate of Destruction will be sent to you by post. If there are no outstanding issues, the process takes approximately ten days.

What should I do after I get the Certificate of Destruction?

You do not need to be present at the Department of Transport or the Tax Office.

I have a Certificate of Destruction for my vehicle, is there any chance that my registration fees will still come due?

In very rare cases, due to a computer error by the Ministry of Transport, the write-off of a vehicle is not registered. You must immediately provide your DOT with the destruction certificate or computerized vehicle status from the DOT. Alternatively, contact the center where you have delivered your vehicle.

There is an abandoned car in my neighborhood. Where do I go?

According to the law, the responsible body is the local authority. Therefore, any private individual should contact the municipality or community to which they belong.

1.Is my vehicle impounded? As the seizure is not visible on the registration document, if there are suspicions (due to debts to third parties) of seizure, contact the Ministry of Transport.
2.Does my registration have a lien? The retention is indicated on the registration document. You should contact the Department of Transport to have the retention removed if you pay off any debt to the previous owner.
3.Loss of licence? It is necessary to provide a certified copy “for use to the DOT” from the Department of Transportation.

5.Is the vehicle owner a bedridden person? Is there a possibility of a residential visit by a representative of the C.E.P. in your area to validate the authenticity of the owner’s signature? Contact the C.E.P.
6.Have the registration and license plates been submitted to the tax office for temporary immobilization? An application is made to the tax office for a permanent immobilization for permanent deletion. At the center you will present the vehicle, the reference letter from the tax office and a copy of the registration certificate as well as the other necessary documents.
7.Are the registration and license plates in the possession of the traffic police?  Contact your traffic police.
